LIDOCAINE - TOPICAL (LIE-doh-cane) COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Dermaflex, Xylocaine USES: This medication is an anesthetic used on the skin to relieve itching and pain associated with various skin disorders such as insect bites, burns, scrapes, plant poisonings, hemorrhoids.
Lidocaine may also be used to relieve irrtiation and inflammation in the mouth and throat. Some forms of this medication are used during certain procedures to reduce pain. HOW TO USE: This medication is for topical use only. To use the ointment and creams on the skin, claen and dry the affected area as directed.

For best results, apply the ointment or cream to a bandage or gauze before placing it on the skin. Or use gloves or an applicator. Wash hands after use.

Use carefully if applying to the face. Avoid contact with the eyes. Do not use more than prescribed, use this more often or use this for longer than prescribed. Your condition will not clear faster, but side effects may be incresaed. SIDE EFFECTS: Notify your doctor if you devleop any of these symptoms: stinging, burning, redness, tenderness, swelling, rash.
If you notice ohter effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: heart disease, other illnesses, infections, alelrgies (especially drug allergies). This medication should be used only if clearly needed durnig pregnancy. Disucss the risks and benefits with your doctor. This mediaction passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or perscription medication you use, especially of: all skin products. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or phamracist approval.

OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
This medicine may be harmful if swallowed.

NOTES: If the condition for which this was precsribed does not improve or becomes worse after a few days, notify your doctor. MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as remembered; do not apply it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual doisng schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up. STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. Keep the spray away from heat or open flames.

Chcek the expiration date on the container and discard any unused medication after that date.
